'RE-VISIT,' a multi-media installation by the Kochi-based artist Rajan Krishnan, is opening at OED Basement, Warriam Road, Ernakulam on Saturday, August 2, 2008.

The show, presented by Gallery OED and conceptualised by the Delhi-based art critic and curator Johny M.L., will include a terracotta installation, a painting, charcoal drawings, photographs, text and a video documentary.

The terracotta installation, titled 'ORE,' was part of Rajan Krishnan's last exhibition, 'oRe/ Substances of Earth,' held at Bodhi Space, Mumbai in January, 2008.  'ORE,' was made in a three-month-long community workshop held at Terracraft, the pottery workshop at Eroor, Ernakulam. The workshop had around 178 participants, from all walks of life, including art students, artists and non-artists.

'RE-VISIT,' is conceptualised as a 'revisit,' to the collective working process that created 'ORE.' It also showcases the various methods and means of creating a visual language
While the original work displayed in Mumbai was a hill of 10feet in height, only 1/6 of it will be displayed at OED Basement for the present show, due to space constrictions.

ORE is a monument and tribute to the human effort and labour of the hand, especially in an era of mechanised, mass production methods. Each tiny figurine that makes up the installation is hand-crafted individually.
Around 250 photographs which document the process of the making of 'ORE,' will be part of the display.  The video 'Running Matter' shows the clippings taken from the production site of ORE along with many other visuals. The video shows altogether a fragmentary version of the multifaceted surroundings as if reflected in a broken mirror.
